Science of the Neuropathy/Balance Sock
The proprietary design uses the Neuroband2 Technology to hug the specific nerves in the back of the foot (posterior tibial and sural nerve). These two nerves, innervate the bottom of the foot. Targeted tactile compression of these nerves help to block the large fiber nerve cascade thus blocking small fiber signals from breaking through. This theory is based on the Gateway Theory of pain first proposed by Ronald Melzach and Patrick Wall in 1965. Using this early work, we have developed a product that has reduced or eliminated over 90% of pain in our clinical trials. In addition, our band improves balance by 24% in clinical sway trials, thus improving balance in the wearer. To date no other product performs like ours.
Our product is different from compression socks and sleeves in that they merely provide compression to the entire foot and leg yet have a tenting effect at the sulcus of the Achilles tendon. Therefore, these products do not eliminate pain or improve balance.
